LINE DANCE
CALGARY
JULY 2007 -
Issue 18
Right now my boots are off and my feet are thrilled
not to be dancing on concrete!
WeÕre in the middle of Calgary Stampede week and itÕs been a busy one
filled with dancing every morning at pancake breakfasts, stampede lunches and
demos around the city. As always,
itÕs the culmination of a year of classes and a fun way to end our year. It was wonderful to meet up with Cindy
Aldrich and Dianna Byers from California!
They danced with us at several breakfasts and it was good to get
together with linedancers from outside of Calgary. I love meeting new people and seeing how the world of line
dancing gives us a common bond!
This is a short newsletterÉÉmy main reason for putting
this out early is to advertise our Mexican Riviera Line Dance Cruise set for
April 27-May 4, 2008!
I am so pleased to be organizing this and welcoming Michele Perron from
British Columbia as our guest instructor.
Michele and I will keep people busy with workshops and dancing. Please go to the cruise link and check out all the pertinent
information. Please note that
there are a limited number of cabins in each category so get your deposit in as
you have nothing to lose by getting booked. Everything is fully refundable at this point! Workshops and dance evenings are in the
process of being scheduled. If
anyone wants to see a sample of dayÕs itinerary, you can go to http://travel.webshots.com/album/559623406SpeYGR and look at daily itineraries and see
there is no shortage of things to do. IÕm looking forward to combining my two
favorite thingsÉÉline dancing and cruising and to be able to do this with
friends. IÕm so glad to see many
spouses coming on this cruise and hope this will be the time we get some of
them out to a beginner workshop and see just why we love line dancing so much!
For anyone outside of Calgary interested in this
cruise, please donÕt hesitate to
contact me at suehall@telusplanet.net so I can provide you with more
information. I also have a list
started of singles who are looking to share a cabin so if you want to find a
roommate to share a cabin with, let me know so I can add you to the list. Once
cabins are booked, it will be much easier to know how many singles are looking
for a roomie. I am also currently
negotiating a group rate at Best Western Long Beach as our pre-cruise hotel and
will have 35 rooms available to book soon.
In the meantime, we have Tom & Deb SelzerÕs Harvest
Moon Line Dance Festival to look forward to September 14-16th. If you have not yet registered, donÕt
leave it much longer as they already have over 150 registered for the
event. There are approximately 50
of us going from Alberta and people coming from B.C., Washington and even from
New Zealand! It promises to be a fun event. You can check their website at
http://www.debandtomdance.com/harvest.htm. Scroll to
the bottom of the page for a printable registration form.
SUMMER CLASSES
During the month
of August, workshops rather than classes will be offered at both Varsity and
Acadia locations. The workshops
will be identical at both locations so if a class is missed at one location, it
can be made up at another.
Workshops will be geared to intermediate and advanced level dancers
and will focus on dances that have been taught at previous workshops but not
yet taught at classes as well as dances that are likely to be danced at Harvest
Moon. These will be solid
review/teaches of three dances per workshop. Each workshop will be 90 minutes in length. ItÕs a ÒcramÓ session, but will give us
more dances for the Okanagan event and get us geared up.
Workshops must be pre-registered and will be cancelled if there is not
a minimum of 10 people in the class.
Please email me for the summer registration form.
